The Tamiya 1/24 scale Honda Prelude XX reproduces the distinctive styling and engineering of the early 1980s second generation Prelude. The real car, introduced in 1982, was notable for its front double wishbone and rear MacPherson strut layout that helped deliver confident handling and a comfortable ride. This front-wheel-drive coupe also offered a wide track and, in some trims, a 4-wheel anti-lock braking option for added safety at the time.
Power for the original Prelude came from a 1,829cc 4-cylinder SOHC engine with three valves per cylinder, rated at 125 horsepower and capable of about 170 km/h. The wedge-shaped profile, folding headlights and sunroof made the car stand out, and Tamiya's kit captures those design cues with careful moulding and parts that allow realistic presentation.
The Tamiya Honda Prelude XX kit is approachable for beginners yet satisfying for experienced modellers. It includes a removable bonnet so the detailed engine bay can be displayed after assembly. Builders can set the pop-up headlights in either the raised or lowered position, and the tyres are synthetic rubber with an authentic tread pattern to match the original styling.
