The Honda CX500 Turbo earned its place in motorcycle history as the first production turbocharged bike. Launched in 1981, the project paired Honda engineering with IHI turbo expertise and used a V2 OHV layout with computerized fuel injection to produce about 78hp and 7.5kg/m of torque, enabling top speeds above 120 mph for its era.
This Tamiya 1/12 scale kit reproduces the look and feel of the CX500 Turbo with careful attention to small parts. At 172mm long and 56mm wide it captures the bike's proportions and suspension packaging. The removable cowling lets builders show off the detailed engine area, while synthetic rubber tyres and Cartograf decals help create a convincing finish.
The kit is aimed at hobbyists who enjoy precise assembly and a measured painting process. Features modelled from the real bike include the Pro-Link rear suspension and an anti-nose dive front end, providing realistic assembly steps and rewarding fit when parts are aligned carefully.
