The Sd.Kfz. 131, better known as the Marder II, played a notable role in World War II armored tactics. Introduced in 1942, it reused the Panzer II chassis and mounted the powerful 75mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun. Favoured for ambush tactics, the Marder II proved effective on the Eastern Front until later purpose-built tank destroyers arrived.
Tamiya captures the vehicle in 1/35 scale with an open fighting compartment that exposes interior items like the gun breech and stored ammunition. The model includes a movable 75mm main gun to pose in firing or travel positions. Builders will also find realistic touches such as the radio rack, wooden storage boxes and shell cartridges that add to display authenticity.
This kit delivers a rewarding assembly experience and a convincing finished model for military collections. Belt-type tracks and two crew figures are included to boost realism. Clear pictorial instructions and waterslide decals help intermediate builders achieve a clean finish. The kit also lets you show the gun travel lock either stowed or deployed for varied displays.
