The Tamiya 89779 model kit presents a finely modelled portrayal of Soviet troops active during the 1979-1989 Afghan War, showing operations in steep mountain country where pack animals and trained German Shepherds supported missions.
This 1/35 scale plastic set contains seven highly sculpted figures produced by ICM, posed for realism in actions like leading a donkey, controlling a service dog and manning a heavy machine gun. Multiple headgear options such as field caps, sun hats and steel helmets let modellers personalise each figure.
The kit supplies both rigid and folding-stock versions of AK47 and AK74 rifles along with a grenade launcher. It also includes a detailed Dragunov sniper rifle and an NSV heavy machine gun to add depth to any diorama display.
