The North American P-51D Mustang is a standout WWII fighter introduced in May 1944, featuring a laminar-flow wing designed to lower drag and powered by the supercharged Packard Merlin V1650-7 engine. The D model added a teardrop canopy for better pilot sightlines and was armed with six 13.7mm guns. With auxiliary drop tanks the Mustang could escort bombers deep into enemy airspace and contest German interceptors.
When the U.S. auto industry shifted to wartime production it supplied vehicles like the 4-door sedan used as staff cars. Those cars often had rear-hinged doors and a V8 under the bonnet, serving officers and staff on the move. This kit recreates that presence alongside the fighter to help build richer WWII diorama scenes.
