The Fiat CR42 Falco highlights Italy's biplane design strengths during the opening years of World War II. Its mixed metal and aluminium construction gave the type notable agility, and while it became obsolete against newer monoplanes, it remained effective in ground attack and local air superiority roles. After 1943 it was pressed into Luftwaffe service for night harassment and training tasks where its handling and visibility were useful assets.
This Tamiya production, originally released by Italeri, presents a faithful 1/48 scale kit of the Fiat CR42. The moulding captures the biplane silhouette and allows builders to assemble the model with or without the wheel spats. The box includes a pilot figure plus accessories such as 50kg bombs, fuel drums and jerry cans, and offers four marking choices including new Western Front schemes.
