Black-Anodized F104 Ver.II v.2 Overview for Road Racers

The Tamiya 84336 - 1/10 RC F104 Ver.II v.2 Pro Chassis Kit Black Special is a testament to Tamiya's dedication to innovation and precision in the RC world. The change from blue to black anodized aluminum gives this edition a refined, low-key look while retaining the proven dynamics of the F104 Version 2 platform.

Pivot Ball Link Rear Suspension Benefits

The F104 Ver.II v.2 uses the Pivot Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension in place of the older 3-point T-bar rear layout. Borrowing ideas from the RM-01 chassis, the PBLR setup includes a center pivot ball, aluminum pitch damper and a roll damper that let drivers dial in pitch and roll characteristics. Combined with the tried-and-true F104 front suspension and king pin coil springs, the package improves traction and corner speed at higher velocities.

Chassis Build and Tuning Features

Built around a carbon fiber plate chassis, the Pro kit balances stiffness and light weight for competitive on-road use. This assembly kit requires a 2-channel radio, 7.2V battery, wheels, tyres, body set, motor and ESC, allowing hobbyists to select electronics and driveline components to match their driving style. Adjustable camber, front toe and shock angles add meaningful tuning choices for circuit work.

This Black Special chassis is aimed at experienced racers who want a highly tuneable on-road platform with refined suspension options and a stealthy appearance.

PBLR offers finer control over chassis pitch and roll, letting you tune rear traction and corner entry more precisely than the traditional T-bar arrangement.
A compact 2-channel radio, a 7.2V stick pack or stick-style battery, a small sensored brushless or brushed motor and a matched ESC are common choices for on-road competition.
The 3.0mm carbon lower deck is stiff but handling during assembly is straightforward if you follow the build instructions and use the correct fastener torques.
Wheel and tyre choice is flexible within the F104 limits, but be aware the wheelbase and track are fixed so fitment must match the body and steering geometry.
