Tyrrell P34 Legacy and RC Appeal

Fans of vintage Grand Prix cars and scale RC will appreciate the Tamiya 84260 Tyrrell P34. This 1/10 scale RTR model recreates the unusual six-wheel layout that raced at the 1977 Monaco Grand Prix, blending period styling with practical RC engineering for collectors and club racers.

F103 Chassis Design and Performance

The model rides on the proven F103 platform with a direct drive 2WD arrangement that provides crisp throttle response and predictable handling. The semi-double deck frame uses a 1.5mm upper FRP plate and a 2.5mm lower FRP plate to balance lightness and rigidity for reliable track performance.

Front-End Geometry and Rear Setup

Its front suspension mirrors the original concept, using a kingpin coil spring linked into a 4-wheel independent layout, all actuated by a single servo for compact control. The rear features a rigid T-bar suspension with a coil spring and a friction plate to keep the car stable under acceleration and cornering loads.

Box-Ready Electronics and Powertrain

Out of the box the kit includes a Finespec 2.4GHz radio system and a TEU-105BK ESC with BEC, along with a 540-size motor. You will need to supply a compatible 7.2 Volt battery pack, charger, and AA batteries for the transmitter to get on track.

The Tamiya Tyrrell P34 makes a strong choice for those who want a period-correct display model that also performs on the track. Its distinctive form and solid components suit both display collectors and active RC drivers.

The model is RTR with electronics installed, but you will need to fit the battery pack, charge it, and bind the transmitter before running.
Smooth asphalt and indoor carpet tracks are ideal due to the small sponge tires and low ground clearance compared with off-road kits.
Yes, the F103 chassis can accept brushless conversions, though you may need a compatible ESC and possibly a different pinion for gearing.
Genuine spare parts, including sponge tyres and body components, are available from Tamiya dealers and specialist RC shops.
