Race-Focused Upgrade with the Tamiya 84238 Nissan GT-R Shell

Built with competitive racing in mind, the Tamiya 84238 Nissan GT-R Sumo Power body set is a performance-oriented option for 1/10 scale touring cars. The shell uses .7mm polycarbonate instead of the typical 1.0mm, cutting top weight to improve steering response and reduce chassis roll on medium to high traction surfaces.

Slim Profile for Faster Direction Changes

The thinner polycarbonate construction helps the car change direction more quickly and respond more precisely to driver inputs, which is useful in tight corner sequences. Keep in mind that a .7mm body will be less resistant to heavy impacts than thicker alternatives, so handle crashes with care.

Recommended Tracks and Chassis Fit

This body is best suited to higher grip circuits where quick steering is a priority. It fits a wide range of compatible Tamiya touring car chassis, allowing racers to tune setups for tighter handling and reduced roll.

Reducing top weight often sharpens turn-in and corner exit, which can lead to faster laps when combined with proper setup and driving technique.
On low grip surfaces the reduced weight may make the car more nervous; it performs best on medium to high traction tracks where steering precision matters.
Trim carefully using a sharp blade and support the shell while cutting. Use polycarbonate paints and thin coats to avoid adding unnecessary weight.
