The German battlecruiser Gneisenau represents a key example of interwar naval design. Launched in 1938 and assigned to the Scharnhorst class, she combined significant firepower with high speed. While officially listed around 26,000 tons, her standard displacement was nearer to 31,800 tons, reflecting her substantial wartime build.
Equipped with nine 28 cm main guns and a complement of secondary weapons including twelve 15 cm guns plus numerous anti-aircraft mounts, the Gneisenau balanced protection and velocity, capable of speeds up to 32 knots. This Tamiya model kit reproduces those defining features in 1/700 scale, offering precise plastic parts for careful assembly and display.
