The Tamiya 76001 Solar Car Assembly Kit gives hobbyists and young engineers a practical way to learn about solar energy and simple mechanics. Part of Tamiya's STEM line, it combines step-by-step assembly with experimentation to teach how light and gearing affect motion.
This kit includes three selectable gear ratios for side-by-side comparisons: high speed (1.7:1), mid speed (2.2:1) and low torque (3.4:1). The ball-mounted solar panel can be tilted to find the best angle for direct sunlight, making it easy to compare performance under different lighting.
Use the model to demonstrate basic energy conversion, torque and speed tradeoffs in classroom or club settings. Builders can record results across sunny and cloudy conditions to see how solar input changes vehicle behaviour.
