Product Summary

The Tamiya 75027 Line Tracing Snail II is a hands-on STEM model kit that introduces builders to core robotics ideas and simple circuitry. Assemble the snail and watch it follow a black line drawn on white paper for an engaging, practical learning project suitable for clubs and classrooms.

Build and Operation

The model is built around a smoke-colored ABS resin chassis and shell and includes two drive motors plus pre-wired electronics such as sensors and the control board. Line detection is handled by an infrared LED paired with a phototransistor so the snail can steer itself, and an indicator LED lights green when the sensor detects a dark track.

Control and Movement

The kit provides a speed switch and a sensor adjustment dial so you can tune how it reacts. On seeing a black line the right motor runs to move it forward and left, and when the line is lost the left motor runs to correct to the right. This alternating motor action lets the snail follow a path continuously.

Specifications

  • Length: 176mm
  • Material: Smoke color tinted ABS resin

Great service and always on time! It would be great if you can list the things that could fit into my package in terms of weight. I will add more into my cart. Thanks for the great service! I really appreciate it.
For reliable detection use a solid black line at least 3mm wide so the infrared sensor can track it consistently.
It can handle bends, but sharp curves with a radius under about 8cm may cause it to lose the line or require slower speed settings.
Batteries are not included. The model needs 2x R6/AA/UM3 cells which should be purchased separately.
