The Tamiya 71202 Microcomputer Robot Kit is an approachable entry into robotics and coding for hobbyists and learners. This wheeled model works with a BBC micro:bit microcomputer, plus an ultrasonic sensor and a motor driver circuit to sense and move around its surroundings.
With a ready installed program, the robot uses its ultrasonic sensor to spot obstacles and directs its motors to react. The head and arms animate as it moves, giving a visible response to activity. For deeper experimentation the BBC micro:bit can be reprogrammed in the MakeCode editor to create custom behaviour and movement routines.
The kit can be expanded beyond standalone use; adding a second BBC micro:bit (sold separately) enables remote control and more interactive projects. This makes the model useful for classroom demos or hands on learning sessions.
