The Tamiya 71125 Mechanical Fish joins the Robocraft Series as a compact, educational model that blends simple engineering with creative play. Builders can explore movement mechanics and see how a basic motor and linkages create lifelike swimming action.
This mechanical fish uses a crank arm drive to move the tail, creating a natural swimming motion. The top half is buoyant so the dorsal fin stays above the surface while the body dips below, and the tail plus lower fins can be adjusted to vary the swim path and behaviour.
Assembly is glue-free, making the kit accessible for newcomers and younger modellers. The motor runs on a single AAA battery (not included), giving a clear, hands-on example of basic circuitry and mechanical power transmission during play and testing.
