The 1/48 McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom II from Tamiya captures the character of the Vietnam War era fighter in a precision plastic kit. This release highlights the F-4B variant that served across multiple U.S. military branches, offering a satisfying build for aviation modellers and collectors.
First flown in the early 1960s, the F-4B Phantom II became a workhorse during the Vietnam conflict, operating with the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. Its twin-engine layout delivered notable speed and payload capacity, and the Phantom remained operational in various roles for decades.
The kit lists a fuselage length of 370mm, a height of 104mm and a wingspan of 243.9mm. Builders can fit the outer wings in folded or extended positions, set the tailplane with realistic movement, and choose open or closed canopy arrangements. The refuelling probe and boarding ladder are adjustable for display preference.
Included are parts for missiles and a drop tank to enhance display realism, plus decals covering multiple marking schemes such as VF-51 from the Vietnam era and a colour painting guide for accurate finishes.
