This Tamiya 1/48 Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien kit recreates one of the more unusual Japanese WWII fighters with careful attention to scale form and surface detail. The model highlights the aircrafts liquid-cooled Ha-40 engine and compact profile, giving modellers a faithful small scale subject for display or diorama use.
The Ki-61-Id Hien proved distinctive in the Pacific campaign because of its Ha-40 V-12 powerplant. Tamiya captures the most produced Ki-61-Id variant in 1/48, including the wide wings and cockpit layout. The kit comes with a seated pilot figure and accurate cockpit components to enhance realism.
The model features a detailed Ha-40 engine assembly with visible supercharger elements. Removable fuselage cowlings let you show the engine once built, and the cockpit parts are finely moulded for realistic instrument and seat detail, offering a rewarding build for experienced kitmakers.
