The Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI Night Fighter is a compelling subject for modellers who enjoy World War II aviation. Derived from the Beaufort bomber, this twin-engine aircraft became a key asset for the Royal Air Force and was fitted with Airborne Interception radar to intercept enemy aircraft at night. Its combination of firepower and handling made it effective against nocturnal raids when daytime fighters struggled to engage.
Entering service around 1940, the Beaufighter contributed significantly to night defence operations. Design features such as a modified horizontal tailplane added stability and a distinct silhouette. Although later replaced by other types like the Mosquito in some roles, the Beaufighter retained a strong operational record and remains a favourite among historians and model builders.
