The Heinkel He219 A-7 Uhu was a pioneering German night-fighter in World War II, notable for its advanced aerodynamics and combat role. Powered by two Daimler-Benz DB603 engines, the A-7 variant added larger supercharger intakes and an improved radar fit, enhancing its high-altitude interception performance against Allied bombers.
Entering service from 1942, the He219 introduced several forward-thinking design elements for its time. The type featured a pressurised crew compartment, a nose-forward cockpit for improved sightlines, and a tricycle undercarriage. It was also among the first operational aircraft to be fitted with ejector seats, reflecting high attention to crew survival.
Tamiya's 1/48 scale kit reproduces the He219 A-7 with careful attention to surface detail and accurate moulded components. The parts layout and detail level offer a satisfying build for scale modellers who enjoy precision assembly and historically faithful finishing.
