The Douglas F4D-1 Skyray earned a place in naval aviation history as the only delta-wing interceptor fielded by the U.S. Navy. This 1/48 scale kit captures the aircrafts distinctive silhouette and historical context. Conceived after World War II and influenced by advanced German aerodynamics research, the Skyray established several speed milestones in the early 1950s and entered service in 1956 without seeing combat. The model highlights signature elements like the 50-degree sweptback wings and the folding arrangement used for carrier stowage.
