The Tamiya 61051 model kit accurately recreates the Gloster Meteor F.1, an important milestone as the first operational Allied jet fighter in World War II. Built at 1/48 scale, the kit highlights the Meteor's first flight on January 12, 1944, and its twin Rolls-Royce W.2B/23 powerplants, along with the aircraft's armament of four 20mm cannons and tricycle landing gear.
During the conflict the Meteor F.1 gained attention for its operational role, including its first confirmed success on August 4, 1944, when Flying Officer Dean intercepted a German V1. While later Meteor variants improved on the design, the F.1 remains a key piece of early jet aviation history and a rewarding subject for model builders.
