The McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle remains a benchmark in fighter design. First flown in July 1972, the type pairs two Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-100 turbofan engines with aerodynamic styling that delivers speeds above Mach 2.5. Its combat fit includes an internal 20mm M-61A-1 rotary cannon plus carriage for four AIM-9L Sidewinder and four AIM-7F Sparrow missiles.
Developed from the single-seat F-15A, the F-15C arrived in 1979 featuring notable updates. Internal fuel capacity rose by about 15 percent and conformal fuel tanks were adopted under the wing roots, prompting landing gear strengthening to handle the extra load. These changes helped preserve the F-15C's role as an air superiority asset.
The Tamiya 1/48 scale F-15C kit gives modelers accurate panel lines and clean part fit, making it suitable for a detailed display project. The components allow careful painting and optional customisation so builders can create an authentic presentation piece reflecting the aircraft's operational appearance.
