Nicknamed the "Wooden Wonder," the De Havilland Mosquito combined lightweight wooden construction with outstanding speed and manoeuvrability at a time when most fighters were metal. The FB Mk.VI, which arrived in 1943, carried a heavy offensive load including four 7.7mm machine guns, four 20mm cannons and the ability to carry up to four 500 lb bombs.
The Tamiya 1/32 scale representation captures the Mosquitos silhouette and cockpit layout with high accuracy. With a wingspan of 515mm the kit includes a detailed cockpit and allows the bomb bay to be modelled open or closed. Clear components for the engine cowling are supplied so builders can display the Merlin engines beneath.
Hobbyists can select between different propeller assemblies, fitting either the slimmer early-style blades or the broader paddle-type blades. The exhausts can be assembled as exposed or with covers fitted, giving scope for a personalised finish.
