The McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II remains a landmark in postwar military aviation. First flown in May 1958, it quickly became a mainstay for US air services and carrier forces. Praised for its adaptability, the F-4 served as an interceptor, reconnaissance platform and strike aircraft, and it proved its worth during conflicts such as the Vietnam War.
Across the 1960s and 70s the F-4 took part in multiple major operations, showing strong performance in speed, altitude and mission range. Its combination of power and versatility led to wide adoption and a long operational life compared with many contemporaries.
This Tamiya 1/32 model reproduces the F-4C/D with precise moulding and authentic surface detail. Parts are supplied in light grey plastic, allowing assembly as either the F-4C or F-4D variant. The kit includes a full weapons fit, die-cast metal landing gear and solid synthetic-rubber tyres to complete a convincing display model.
