TA-06 Heritage and the Ferrari 599XX Replica
From the TA-01 debut in 1992 to the refined TA-06, Tamiya has shaped touring car standards. The TA-06 benefits from lessons learned by the TRF race team, and its layout is geared toward even weight distribution when used with brushless motors and light batteries, helping on-track balance and corner speed.
Dual-Drive Layout and Chassis Balance
The TA-06 uses a Dual-Drive approach with a belt-driven front and gear-driven rear to deliver smooth power transfer. Its monocoque frame puts the battery and motor near the centerline to improve handling. The design accepts both IFS (inboard front suspension) and conventional outboard setups, so you can fit low-nose sports bodies without compromise.
Ferrari 599XX: From Circuit Tech to Scale Model
The Ferrari 599XX inspired this body. Introduced in 2009, the 599XX is a track-only development based on Ferrari race technology. It uses a 5,999cc V12 engine rated around 700 horsepower and features the ACTIFLOW system to boost downforce without adding drag. The Tamiya model echoes that track-focused spirit in a scaled package.
Parts Interchange and Setup Options
The TA-06 offers broad parts compatibility with earlier Tamiya platforms such as the TA-05, including suspension arms, steering blocks, and optional aluminium mounts for fine tuning. It also supports a range of battery chemistries like NiCd, NiMh, LiFe, and LiPo to match different track demands.
