Precision Drift Control from the Tamiya Mazda RX-7

If you live for controlled slides, the Tamiya 57766 Mazda RX-7 Drift Spec captures the classic rotary silhouette and packages it on the TT-01D platform. This RTR model blends authentic bodywork with a chassis tuned for drift practice and display.

Built for Drift Performance

The TT-01D chassis uses a shaft-driven 4WD layout that helps maintain balance during long slides. Its coil spring-damped, independent double wishbone suspension provides predictable response and road feel. Sealed front and rear differential gearboxes improve longevity for repeated drift sessions.

Realistic Styling and Night Running

The polycarbonate body reproduces the RX-7 profile and arrives pre-painted for quick setup. LED head and tail lamps are fitted for realistic night runs, and the optional TLU-02 Light Control Unit can be added if you want more customisable lighting effects.

Drift-Focused Upgrades and Parts

This kit includes drift-specific elements like a sport-tuned Type 540 motor, full ball bearings, an aluminum motor heat sink, CVA mini shocks and short springs for tighter control. The narrow mesh wheels with Drift Tire Type D are made from a resin and rubber blend to extend slide time.

Yes. The 4WD layout and forgiving suspension help newcomers keep control while they learn weight transfer and throttle modulation.
You can swap to higher-performance 540-size motors and compatible ESCs, but check space and pinion fit. Upgrading will change acceleration and power delivery.
Smooth concrete, indoor polished floors and asphalt give the most consistent sliding. Avoid very rough or loose gravel surfaces which reduce drift predictability.
Regularly clean and lube bearings, check differential gear oil, and inspect shafts for wear to keep handling sharp and parts lasting longer.
