Convert Tamiya R/C Models to Track Drive

Turn ordinary Tamiya R/C kits into capable tracked machines with the Tamiya 54948 Track Unit Sets. Developed from the Landfreeder QuadTrack layout, the assemblies replace wheels to improve mobility on loose or soft surfaces like sand, snow and mud.

Chassis Compatibility Notes

These track units are compatible with a range of Tamiya chassis platforms, including CC-01, CC-02, GF-01 (CB, TR), G6-01(TR), and WR-02 (CB). For use on a TT-02, you will need separately sold Item 50354 (16T, 17T Pinion Gear Set) plus a CR-Tuned Motor (35T) to maintain proper gearing and performance.

Track Mechanism and Traction

Each unit uses a three-sided assembly that pivots on a shaft at the top of the roller arm and includes a spring-loaded third roller for consistent ground contact. This arrangement delivers strong bite on rough terrain while still handling paved ground when needed.

Construction and Track Links

Power is transferred from the chassis drive shaft to an upper drive sprocket connected to the track unit. The system uses eight rollers wrapped in plastic link-type tracks with soft inserts, all held together with metal link pins. You can fit either standard links or grouser-type links depending on the surface you expect to run on.

Yes, the Tamiya 54948 units are designed to mount on CC-02 platforms without major chassis modification, using the existing drive interfaces.
For TT-02 you should fit Item 50354 (16T, 17T Pinion Gear Set) and choose a CR-Tuned Motor (35T) to keep correct gear mesh and motor load.
Yes, the track links are modular. Replace standard links with grouser links by removing and reassembling the metal link pins to suit terrain needs.
