Inspect brushes after every few races or after long runs. Look for uneven wear or excessive sparking and replace brushes when contact area is reduced to maintain performance.
Use a quality sensored or sensorless ESC matched to your battery voltage and motor timing. Keep timing low to moderate for reliability unless your class rules allow higher timing.
