Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. J recreated at 1/35 scale

The Tamiya 48218 RC Tank Kit revives the German Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. J in a faithful scale model. The Pz.Kpfw.IV continued serving late in WWII despite plans to replace it with the Panther, and this Ausf. J variant reflects the defensive optimisations and production adaptations that kept it in service across multiple fronts.

Track realism and controlled movement

This 1/35 replica is built for operation as well as display. Assembly-type tracks snap together to show natural track sag, and the drivetrain is tuned to keep the model steady at low speeds. Motion covers forward and reverse drive, pivots and turns, plus turret rotation and gun elevation under RC control using the TTU-10 transmitter paired with the MC-07 control unit.

Drive system and user adjustments

Powered by two drive motors and two turret control motors, the kit gives precise manipulation for manoeuvres. The transmitter includes four selectable speed ranges so you can choose slow, realistic advances or quicker movement. Note that four AAA batteries are required for the model and four AAA for the transmitter, and these are not included.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Motion: Full range including turret and gun
  • Control Unit: TTU-10 transmitter and MC-07
  • Motors: Two drive motors and two turret control motors
  • Power Requirements: 4 AAA batteries for both model and transmitter (not included)

The Tamiya 48218 kit is ideal for military model builders and RC hobbyists who want an authentic, controllable Panzer IV replica. Its assembly focus and comprehensive control gear provide a satisfying build and realistic operation.

The kit has detailed parts and moving systems, so beginners can complete it but should allow time and use basic modelling tools. Some prior kit experience helps with clean assembly and track fitting.
The TTU-10 transmitter and MC-07 control unit are the specified control package. The kit requires four AAA batteries for the model and four AAA for the transmitter, sold separately.
It performs best on firm, even surfaces. Short grass or compacted dirt is fine, but loose gravel or very soft ground may reduce traction and strain the driveline.
Check track links and guide teeth for wear, clean debris from the sprockets, and inspect gear mesh. Replace batteries after long sessions and store the kit dry to protect metal parts.
