Precision Engineering in the Tamiya 47498 TA-08R Platform

The Tamiya 47498 TA-08R chassis is a high-detail 1/10 electric touring car platform built for hobbyists who demand precise handling and flexible setup options. It blends performance-oriented components with thoughtful layout to suit racers chasing consistent lap times.

Carbon Upper Deck and Chassis Rigidity

The core of the TA-08R uses a 2.0mm carbon fiber upper deck that ties the front and rear bulkheads together to improve pitch stiffness. A 630-ball bearing at the rear enhances roll rigidity, while aluminium upper arm mounts add strength to withstand high-speed cornering forces.

Drive Train and Smooth Power Delivery

Power is transmitted via a front direct pulley and a rear gear differential, both upgraded with aluminium parts for smoother, more reliable operation. The TRF420 centre pulley and 71T spur gear help maintain drive stability under load, with double cardan shafts up front and lightweight universals at the rear to keep power transfer efficient.

Robust Hubs and Suspension Stability

Aluminium wheel hubs reduce wheel deformation for steadier tyre contact, and the lower deck includes extra ribs to resist bending and protect suspension geometry. Carbon fibre damper stays paired with Super Short Big Bore dampers deliver strong absorption and predictable rebound control.

They are always happy to help, I have spent thousands here and so not one glitch like this shop will like to go and visit there one day
Assembly requires basic model-building skills and patience. Newcomers can complete the kit, but familiarising yourself with RC electronics and setup basics will help achieve better handling.
Use a compact 2-channel radio, a high-torque steering servo, a brushless motor and an ESC sized for 1/10 touring cars, plus a suitable LiPo pack and a balance charger.
Soften the anti-roll settings, use softer springs or dampers, and adjust toe and camber to increase mechanical grip. Tyre choice and tyre prep are also critical to improving traction.
Typical upgrades include aluminium suspension parts, upgraded diffs and higher-spec dampers. Reinforced drive shafts and improved wheel hubs can also extend part life under hard use.
