Tune handling with the Tamiya 42216 Double Cardan Joint Shaft

For hobbyists wanting crisper handling, the Tamiya 42216 Double Cardan Joint Shaft provides a noticeable reduction in rotational vibration. It improves suspension feedback when fitted to direct couplings or spool setups, helping drivers feel small traction changes on the track.

Built for strength and smooth rotation

This Double Cardan Joint Shaft is made from high-strength steel for long service life under race conditions. It follows the standard 44mm universal drive shaft form, so it works with many 1/10 scale touring cars. Compatible examples include models with reversible suspension arms such as the TRF417, TA06, TB03, TA05, and TB Evo. 5.

Fitment notes and what is included

The package contains two 44mm shafts and a pair of 1050 ball bearings (3mm thick) for a straight forward swap. These parts suit cars that need finer handling adjustments and are intended to slot into compatible Tamiya layouts with minimal modification.

It can fit other brands if their dimensions and mounting style match the 44mm double cardan layout. Check shaft length and bearing bore before fitting to avoid clearance issues.
Basic RC tools are enough: pliers, hex drivers and a press-fit tool for bearings if required. The included 1050 bearings make the swap easier on most Tamiya touring car chassis.
Keep splines clean and lightly greased with a suitable drive grease, check bearings for play, and inspect for scoring after heavy use. Replace bearings if you notice rough rotation.
