The Tamiya 42184 - 1/10 RC TRF417 Chassis Kit represents a focused evolution of the TRF line, drawing on race data from the TRF416 to refine balance and handling. Built from lessons learned in championship competition, this kit targets drivers who want a tuned platform for high level racing.
The TRF417 introduces revised front and rear carbon damper stays, machined aluminum bulkheads, and a sturdy aluminum motor mount to reduce mass and boost longevity. The motor has been nudged 2.0mm toward the centre to improve traction under acceleration, helping lap consistency when using powerful brushless setups and LiPo packs.
Engineered to meet competitive requirements, the chassis targets a minimum race weight near 1,350g and uses a one-piece aluminum motor mount to cut drivetrain losses. A 19T pulley sets the internal drive ratio to about 1.94, lowering flex and preserving speed when coasting into corners.
The steering linkage has been redesigned to avoid attachment to the upper deck, yielding improved compliance and grip through turns. The ball diff housing and plates have been strengthened, and identical front and rear bulkheads simplify servicing. Short reversible arms and dedicated uprights complete the chassis geometry for balanced response.
For racers who prioritise precise handling and durable construction, the TRF417 chassis offers a competitive base for modern brushless power systems and high discharge lithium batteries.
