The German machine gun team was a core element of infantry tactics in World War II, built around coordinated fire from a small crew. Teams typically included a commander, a gunner, a loader and ammo carriers, delivering sustained suppressive fire on the battlefield. The MG42, introduced in 1942, became known for its very high cyclic rate and long effective range.
This Tamiya figure represents a soldier responsible for the MG42 tripod and associated gear. The kit shows an early-type Walther pistol holster and parts that let you assemble the figure with or without a helmet. The tripod is made from more than ten components to capture mechanical detail, and decals plus a display base are included so you can stage the figure alongside others in the series.
The uniform shown reflects the 1936 field dress with green collar accents used at the start of the war. As operations continued, uniforms shifted toward the all-green 1940 pattern to aid camouflage and ease production.
