This Tamiya 1/35 German Medium Tank Panther Ausf.D model kit gives Canadian modellers the opportunity to assemble one of World War II's most capable armoured vehicles. The Panther was developed in response to the Soviet T-34 and is fitted with the long L/70 7.5cm gun for effective long-range engagement. Its sloped armour, influenced by the T-34, combined with mobility that reached up to 55 km/h.
The Panther Ausf.D was the first production run, with 842 examples built between January and September 1943. Early production introduced some reliability challenges, yet the tank proved valuable in both attack and defence, notably at the Battle of Kursk. This kit reflects authentic details such as smoke dischargers and the distinctive rear panel layout.
Designed for modellers aiming for accuracy, the newly-tooled components recreate the Panther's sloped hull and extended gun. The belt-type tracks and separate muzzle brake pieces improve realism. Most hatches move for display options, with the small arms port remaining fixed.
