The Birmingham Small Arms Company was better known for arms but also produced durable motorcycles during World War II. The BSA M20, introduced in 1939, was adapted for military use with a Lucas lamp and other service upgrades. Its 12hp single cylinder 500cc powerplant made it a dependable choice for army dispatch, RAF duties and naval shore patrols.
This 1/35 replica from Tamiya captures hallmark elements of the BSA M20 like the front and rear suspension layout, fuel tank air cleaner and saddlebag fittings. The kit includes two figures - a seated courier and a standing military police trooper - dressed to period standards, plus a decal sheet carrying MP insignia to finish the build authentically.
Beyond assembly, the kit lends itself to historical scenes. The parts include road signs inspired by Normandy, helping modellers compose realistic dioramas. Careful trimming, seam filling and precise painting will reward experienced builders with a convincing wartime vignette.
