The Semovente M40, modelled here in 1/35 scale, was an Italian self-propelled gun that drew on the Sturmgeschutz III concept. Built on the Carro Armato M13/40 chassis, it carried a 75mm howitzer and used up to 50mm of armor to protect its crew. Deployed in North Africa from late 1941, the M40 served in direct fire and infantry support roles.
This Tamiya kit recreates the Semovente M40s low silhouette at a length of 143mm in finished form. The set includes assembly-type tracks plus realistic tools and exhaust shrouds. Photo-etched parts are supplied for the identification plate and the anti-aircraft sight. Also included are two crew figures, a standing officer and a seated driver, along with three marking choices and national insignia decals.
