The Panzerkampfwagen II was a key element in early World War II armoured formations. Conceived after World War I under restricted development, this light tank evolved from the Panzer I hull but carried a more potent 2 cm main gun. Production started in 1937 and by April 1940 some 1088 vehicles had been completed. These tanks led several early offensives, including the invasion of Poland and the assault on France, and later found continued use in reconnaissance roles as the conflict progressed.
This 1/35 scale kit faithfully reproduces the Panzer II Ausf. A/B/C in plastic. The set contains optional supplemental armour plates that can be attached as on the original machine. Various hatches and armour panels are molded separately to reflect the different subvariants. The track pieces are supplied in single-piece sections to simplify fitting. The kit also includes a commander figure and provides three marking schemes used during the French Campaign.
Model builders aiming to stage scenes will find this Panzer II works well alongside contemporary vehicles such as the French Battle Tank B1 bis and the German 3 Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck. Pairing with the German Infantry Set (French Campaign) and small terrain elements will boost authenticity for a period diorama.
