This Tamiya 35265 kit gives modellers the chance to assemble an accurate 1/35 scale version of the M113A2 Armoured Personnel Carrier. The model reflects the vehicle's reputation for durability and flexibility, and highlights the role the M113A2 played supplying troops during the 2003 Iraq War.
The M113A2 entered production in June 1979 following upgrades driven by combat experience. Changes included a stronger transmission, beefed up suspension and improved cooling. Fuel tanks were relocated to the rear and flanks, smoke dischargers were fitted to the front, and Combat Identification Panels were used to lower friendly fire risks in Gulf operations.
Tamiya's 1/35 rendition captures the M113A2's exterior fittings with care. Notable elements are the large trim vane, smoke shell launchers and correctly positioned external fuel tanks. The kit also supplies stowage items, ammo boxes and two crew figures (commander and driver). Decals provide markings for vehicles that served in Iraq and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
