The German Wehrmacht faced a major logistics task in World War II: recovering heavy armoured vehicles from damaged battlefields and difficult terrain. The 18 Ton Heavy Half-Track "FAMO" paired with the Sd.Ah.116 trailer provided a practical recovery and transport solution. Powered by a Maybach HL 108 12-cylinder engine rated at about 270hp, the FAMO could tow and load tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw.III and Pz.Kpfw.IV into operational support roles.
