The Tamiya 1/35 scale Tamiya 35244 M26 Armored Tank Recovery Vehicle kit gives hobbyists a chance to recreate a key support vehicle from World War II. The M26 was essential for recovering and repairing damaged armour during critical campaigns, and this model reflects the role those recovery crews played in keeping armoured formations moving after the Normandy operations.
This kit demonstrates Tamiya attention to scale fidelity. The assembled model measures 225mm long and 106mm wide, representing the original vehicle with accurate proportions. Advanced slide molding produces the cabin as a single finely detailed component, and the window armor can be modelled either open or closed to suit display preferences.
The twin winch and crane units are modelled with practical realism, while small extras such as the vice and welding gear add workshop authenticity. The rear A-arm support can be set in one of five positions to reflect different recovery stances on dioramas.
The M26 first saw service on the Italian Front in 1943 and proved vital during the Normandy campaign. Its capability to recover damaged tanks under difficult conditions, including night operations and contested areas, made it a key element in maintaining the Allied advance. This kit honours both the vehicle and the crews who maintained frontline mobility.
