This Tamiya 1/35 rendition of the German 18-ton FAMO half-track recreates a key logistical vehicle from World War II with careful attention to scale detail. The FAMO was the largest German half-track type and played a central role in recovery and towing tasks, often operating alongside armoured units during campaigns on the Eastern Front and in North Africa.
Developed in the 1930s as part of mechanised support capabilities, the FAMO was tasked with recovering damaged medium tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw.III and Pz.Kpfw.IV. Heavier tanks, including the Tiger I, sometimes required several FAMO vehicles to move or tow them, underlining the platform's importance to wartime logistics.
The kit reflects Tamiya quality with realistic track runs, steerable front wheels and synthetic rubber tyres. Builders can choose configurations like open or closed storage compartments and removable engine side panels for viewing internal detail. The set also includes eight crew figures to populate dioramas and bring operational scenes to life.
