The U.S. M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (MBT) marks a major step in postwar armored design, first entering U.S. Army service in the early 1980s. Named for General Creighton Abrams, the platform quickly became a key element of modern armored forces.
This kit reflects the M1A1's updates over the original M1 layout. Recognisable features include the angular turret and Chobham composite armour that improved crew protection. The switch to a 120mm smoothbore gun and strengthened frontal armour, plus a larger stowage rack and beefed up suspension, were important changes that defined its performance during the Persian Gulf Conflict.
Powered by a 1500 horsepower gas turbine, the Abrams combined speed and agility with comparatively low acoustic signature for its class. This Tamiya model faithfully reproduces those traits so scale modellers and military history fans can build an accurate and rewarding display piece.
