This Tamiya 1/48 JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle model kit gives hobbyists a chance to build a faithful miniature of one of Japan's most agile military vehicles. First fielded by the Japan Ground Self Defense Force in 2002, the vehicle is known for mobility and mission flexibility. Its real powertrain is a 160hp liquid-cooled 4-cylinder diesel engine, enabling top speeds around 100km/h and allowing the vehicle to be transported by helicopter when needed.

The vehicle saw operational use during a humanitarian deployment to Iraq in 2004, which influenced later upgrades and mission-specific fittings. Variants added elements such as smoke dischargers and the 5.56 MINIMI machine gun for certain roles. This kit recreates those details with care, making it a strong choice for collectors focused on modern military subjects.
