The Tamiya 1/700 IJN Destroyer Hibiki model represents the wartime destroyer in fine detail. Commissioned in 1933, Hibiki saw action in operations including Malaya, Kiska and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. This kit reproduces key Type III "Special Type" features, making it a strong choice for builders focused on Japanese naval history.
Hibiki survived World War II among few of her class, which adds to its collector interest. The kit accurately shows the ship's narrow fore funnel and the triple 25mm anti-aircraft mounts fitted in 1944, offering insight into the ship's wartime changes as well as a realistic look for display.
Finished length is 157mm, so the Tamiya Hibiki fits well in shelf displays with sister ships like Akatsuki or earlier Fubuki-class destroyers. The kit contains multiple armament options, a metal flotation piece to help balance the model, and waterslide decals. Clear pictorial instructions walk builders through assembly for precise results.
