The Shiratsuyu-class destroyers addressed stability issues from earlier designs, and Harusame, launched in 1937, is notable for upgraded anti-aircraft protection. The Tamiya 31403 kit represents that ship in 1/700 scale with fine surface detail aimed at both naval modellers and history-minded collectors.
This class was created to improve firepower and handling compared with prior destroyers. The model shows the reinforced anti-aircraft layout, including a triple 25mm mount in place of one rear turret and an extra 25mm mount near the bridge. The casting and moulding capture the 12.7cm gun turrets and torpedo tubes with precision, delivering a satisfying build sequence for careful modellers.
The finished hull measures 157mm long, making the completed model a compact but accurate display piece. The kit includes waterslide decals for authentic markings, small metal fittings to aid balance, and a pictorial instruction sheet to guide assembly for a faithful result.
