The Tamiya 1/700 scale kit of the IJN DD Shiratsuyu recreates this notable Japanese destroyer in fine detail. As the lead ship of the Shiratsuyu class, it served prominently during World War II and reflects the class improvements made to earlier designs; none of the class survived the war.
Completed in 1936, the Shiratsuyu carried a heavy weapons fit for its size, including five 12.7cm guns and two quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers. The model reproduces these armaments and hull lines to give a faithful representation of the original engineering.
This precision plastic kit is aimed at hobbyists who want authentic detail in a compact build. The finished model measures 157mm long and comes with waterslide decals and clear pictorial instructions to guide both experienced builders and those newer to naval kits.
