The Japanese Light Cruiser Nagara, from the well known Nagara-class, marks an important period in early 20th century naval design with clear British influence. Laid down in the late 1910s, these ships were valued for their speed and the distinct spoon bow profile. Nagara saw active service during World War II across actions from the Philippines to Midway and was sunk in 1944 by a U.S. submarine.
This 1/700 scale kit by Tamiya recreates the Nagara in its final wartime fit, including the heavier anti-aircraft armament seen late in the conflict. As a collector friendly model it balances historical accuracy with a rewarding assembly challenge.
This kit stands out for its finely moulded exterior details and selectable armament options, letting builders depict the Nagara's wartime posture. The included metal part assists flotation and stability, while the clear pictorial instructions guide modellers through each assembly stage.
