The Tamiya 31320 1/700 Japanese Light Cruiser Natori recreates a Nagara-class vessel from the early 20th century. Launched in 1922, the Natori saw action in several engagements including the Battle of Sunda Strait and was sunk in August 1944 by a US submarine. This model focuses on the ship's early 1940s configuration, showing the long, narrow hull and design that allowed speeds up to 36 knots.
The kit is aimed at hobbyists who enjoy precise naval modelling. It contains finely moulded parts including three funnels, seven 14cm guns, torpedo launchers, catapult assemblies and floatplanes. Metal flotation components are supplied to improve realism for water-themed displays.
When finished the model measures 230mm in length, so careful assembly is required and it is best suited to experienced builders. The kit supplies waterslide decals and clear pictorial instructions to help accurately reproduce small details. Once complete the Natori makes a strong addition to any historical ship collection.
