The Tamiya 31317 kit gives modelers an accurate 1/700 scale replica of the Japanese Light Cruiser Tama. As the second hull of the Kuma-class, Tama was active in World War II operations around the Aleutian Islands between 1942 and 1943. This kit reproduces the ship as seen during the Kiska invasion, including the unusual white and dark gray camouflage that distinguished her from other Imperial Navy vessels.
Tama saw action in several notable encounters, such as the Battle of the Komandorski Islands. This model is intended both as a historical tribute and as a display piece; builders and collectors will value the careful shaping and wartime appearance rendered by Tamiya.
The kit features finely molded exterior parts, multiple weapon options, and a small metal weight to assist flotation for water diorama displays. Waterslide decals are supplied to replicate the wartime paint scheme, and clear pictorial instructions make assembly straightforward. When finished, the model measures 230mm long, reflecting the high level of detail preferred by serious modelers.
