The Tamiya 1/700 Japanese Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku model recreates one of the Shokaku-class carriers with careful attention to historical detail. As the second ship of its class, Zuikaku saw major action including Leyte Gulf, and this kit allows builders to assemble a late-war representation that reflects the ship's operational appearance.
Commissioned in September 1941, Zuikaku was noted for speed, strong anti-aircraft fittings, and a substantial air group. The kit portrays the carrier in its later wartime configuration with added anti-aircraft armament and authentic aircraft types like Mitsubishi A6M5 fighters and Yokosuka D4Y dive bombers.
Parts are molded in gray, black and red plastic to match key areas and make painting straightforward. The large flight deck and detailed bridge add display value, and included items such as aircraft, lifeboats and armaments create a complete presentation for shelf or diorama display.
