The Tamiya 31211 1/700 scale model of the Japanese Aircraft Carrier Taiho gives builders a compact but detailed study of wartime naval design. Completed in March 1944, Taiho represented advanced carrier construction, yet she was lost to a submarine attack about three months after entering service.
This kit reflects Taiho's distinctive elements, including the armored flight deck and enclosed bow. The moulding captures the bridge and anti-aircraft armament with sharp definition. Modelers can choose mast positions for a cruising or battle look, and the lift platforms are buildable in either the raised or lowered configuration.
As a display subject the Taiho is rewarding to finish, offering clear presentation potential for a shelf or diorama. The kit supplies parts to represent Mitsubishi A6M5 fighters and Nakajima B6N torpedo bombers, adding authentic aircraft detail that complements the ship's profile.
